The identities of two people who died and one person who was still missing after flash flooding at the Grand Canyon have been confirmed by both family members and their spokesperson.
Texas residents John Giusti, Brent Rosenkranz and Tim Smith were on a trip together. Giusti and Rosenkranz died during the floods, while Smith was still missing, spokesperson Hannah Barricks said.
Giusti's family received confirmation of his death the evening of Aug. 31, Barricks said, while Rosenkranz's family was informed the morning of Sept. 1, she said.
A National Park Service liaison told Smith's family that he was the only person "authorities were still searching for following the flood," Barricks said.
The park service had not officially confirmed the men's identities,
as of the afternoon of Sept. 1.
