A man who was wanted as a murder suspect in the Los Angeles area was recently arrested in Chandler by a law enforcement task force.
George Kenneth Nunez, 26, was wanted by the Los Angeles Police Department in connection with a homicide, the U.S. Marshals Service announced in a news release on Aug. 13.
The Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force took on the fugitive investigation for Nunez and learned he had fled to Arizona.
Officers on the task force began surveillance at a Chandler home on Aug. 6 and positively identified Nunez entering and leaving the property, the news release stated. They surrounded the home and directed Nunez to surrender multiple times.
After several announcements, Nunez came out of the home and was taken into custody,
according to the release. He was booked into a Maricopa County jail, where he remained pending extradition to Los Angeles.
“Crossing state lines does not end our pursuit,” U.S. Marshal Van Bayless said in the news release. “This arrest demonstrates the reach of the U.S. Marshals Service and the strength of the partnerships that allow law enforcement agencies across the country to work as one. We are proud to have helped return this suspect to the jurisdiction where he will face justice, and we hope his arrest provides some measure of comfort to the victim’s loved ones.”
