Arizona Cardinals startingright guard Isaiah Adams was placed oninjured reserve Saturday, Oct. 10, with an ankle injury.
He is the second starting offensive lineman to head to the IR.
This comes after Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur ruled Adams out
for this week on Oct. 7, and after LaFleur announced that starting left tackle Paris Johnson Jr. is out for the rest of the season on Oct. 5. Adams will miss at least a month.Adams was a third-round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, which was also the draft in which the Cardinals selected wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. with the No. 4 overall pick. ESPN NFL insiders Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport have reported that Harrison will not be playing in the Cardinals' next game, as the team is finalizing
a trade to move him.
Adams will be the Cardinals' third pick of the 2024 NFL Draft to miss at least a month this season, as running back Trey Benson was waived with an injury designation before the season and tight end Tip Reiman has remained on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list all season.
Backup right guard Jon Gaines II will likely step in against the Detroit Lions this week. The Cardinals' 2023 fourth-rounder played 38 snaps for the Cardinals last week due to Adams' injury limiting him to 28. Gaines has started six games in his four-year NFL career (all four years with the Cardinals).
Detroit's defense heads to Arizona for this Week 5 matchup, averaging 3.8 sacks per game, which ranks second in the NFL.
