Arizona's treasurer candidates will face off in a televised debate on Sept. 23.
Both Republican Elijah Norton and Democrat Nick Mansour will attend the forum hosted by Arizona's Citizens Clean Elections Commission.
The race has splintered along national political fault lines.
Norton, a business executive endorsed by conservative advocacy group Turning Point Action, wants to keep the treasurer's office under GOP control.
He has campaigned on forming a Department of Government Efficiency for Arizona, mirroring President Donald Trump's efforts to slash federal government spending in 2025. Norton has said he wants the state to "divest from woke and leftist causes" and is pledging to "protect Arizona's investments from racist ideology," referring to companies
that engage in political activism. He's a former treasurer of the Arizona Republican Party and a large donor to GOP candidates this year.
Mansour is an entrepreneur with a background in real estate investment and a former chairman of the Arizona College of Nursing.
He has tried to carve out a moderate lane in the race. Mansour has portrayed Norton's platform as politicizing the state's investment decisions, highlighted reports of misspending within Arizona's school voucher program, and called the current state of politics "too extreme." Mansour is endorsed by the state's top Democrats and a number of moderate Republicans.
The debate will air at 4 p.m. It will be livestreamed on www.azcentral.com.
The election is Nov. 3, 2026. Early voting begins Oct. 7.
