Multiple underage patients were arrested for assaulting nurses, an Oasis Behavioral Health Center staff member and Chandler police officers during two separate incidents, police said.
At least four juvenile patients, who were not identified, were arrested and booked on assault charges, according to Chandler police.
Chandler police responded to the mental health facility at 7:35 p.m. Oct. 4 after receiving reports of a large disturbance, according to a media advisory shared by department spokesperson Ryan Cody.
Dozens of juvenile patients were “acting disorderly,” the advisory said. A nurse was assaulted and transported by staff to a local hospital for treatment, according to police.
Police identified a minor as being responsible and took them into
custody, where they were booked on one count of aggravated assault, the advisory said.
Later that night, while Chandler police were still on scene investigating the first incident, a second incident broke out at about 10:30 pm., according to the advisory.
Several minor patients forced their way into a locked medication room, damaging a dispensing machine and gaining access to controlled substances, the advisory said.
Multiple patients ingested medication, were treated by Chandler Fire personnel and taken to a local hospital, police said.
A nurse and another staff member were assaulted during the second incident, according to the advisory.
Two Chandler police officers were also assaulted while trying to control the disturbance, police said.
Chandler police records showed 278 general offense reports at Oasis Behavioral Health so far in calendar year 2026, the advisory said.
