The start of the fall sports season has already produced plenty of standout performances across the Palm Beach County.
From undefeated volleyball and golf teams to upset-minded football teams, local athletes already showing they hard work they put in over the summer opening weeks of the 2026-27 school year.
To recognize those accomplishments, The Palm Beach Post is pleased to release the year's first "Team of the Month" poll, highlighting the top high school team performances from the previous month. Readers will have the chance to vote for the area program they believe had the best month, regardless of sport. Polls are open for one week and will close at noon on Sept. 8.

The Post's Team of the Month (August)
Palm Beach Lakes football
Palm Beach Lakes has delivered one of the county's most impressive starts, pairing an explosive offense with a remarkable program turnaround. The Rams are averaging 53.5 points per game through two victories after winning just two games two seasons ago and going winless four years ago.
A major catalyst has been quarterback Jordan Johnson, a transfer from Palm Beach Gardens who is averaging 318 passing yards per game with 10 touchdowns and just one interception. Colorado commit Ryan Ferdinand has been a top target, averaging more than 100 receiving yards per game as one of the area's top playmakers.
King's Academy football
The Lions are 3-0 in their debut SSAA season and own one of August's signature victories after upsetting Saint Andrew's, a program that won 10 games last season.
Senior running back Roman Driggers has powered the offense, averaging 181 rushing yards per game as the Lions' workhorse back. Head coach Dan Burack also deserves recognition for helping fellow Palm Beach County program Inlet Grove with equipment support during a time of need, showcasing the spirit of high school athletics beyond the scoreboard.
Berean Christian volleyball
Berean Christian has raced to a 5-0 start while winning 15 of its first 18 sets, climbing to No. 21 in Florida in the latest MaxPreps rankings.
The Bulldogs have been led offensively by senior Emma Gard and sophomore Briana Downs, who have combined for 123 kills. Senior setter Gabby Estrelle has orchestrated the attack, while head coach Doug Walters has guided the program to one of the strongest starts in Palm Beach County.
Seminole Ridge volleyball
Seminole Ridge opened the season 4-0 and climbed to No. 26 in Florida according to MaxPreps after quality victories over Dreyfoos, Park Vista and Lake Worth Christian.
Senior Abi Chin Lee has spearheaded the offense with 95 kills through the early part of the season, helping establish the Hawks as one of the county's top contenders under head coach Scott Barnwell.
Dr. Joaquin Garcia girls golf
The Bulldogs have emerged as one of Palm Beach County's top girls golf programs with head-to-head victories over Park Vista, Palm Beach Central and Somerset Canyons.
Dr. Joaquin Garcia boasts a balanced lineup featuring junior Jaime Baker, senior Kylie Zimmerman, freshman Jenna Shipman, senior Ella Mae Lipp and junior Valentina Moran. Baker enters the season as The Palm Beach Post's reigning Large Schools Girls Golfer of the Year and has helped lead the Bulldogs' impressive early rise.
