Ballet Palm Beach announces additions to board
Ballet Palm Beach recently welcomed LeAnna “Lea” J. Carey and Jessica Cho to the professional ballet company’s board of directors. Carey is the founder of Women Who Innovate, a company focused on providing strategic guidance to startup companies, non-profit organizations, and Fortune 500 companies. Cho is an accomplished
finance professional and community leader based in Palm Beach County who brings over a decade of Wall Street experience to her philanthropic endeavors. Established in 2001, Ballet Palm Beach is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) ballet company dedicated to preserving the art of classical ballet by cultivating new visions in choreography, impacting the next generation through the discipline of dance, and enriching the community through this universal art form.
Comiter Singer partner takes Tax Attorney of the Year award
Comiter Singer partner Mark R. Brown has been named the 2026–2027 Gerald T. Hart Outstanding Tax Attorney of the Year Honoree by the Tax Section of The Florida Bar. It's the Section's highest honor. Comiter Singer is a Florida-based law firm focused on estate and tax planning, probate and trust administration, business succession planning, and trust and estate litigation. Comiter Singer has 25 attorneys with four South Florida offices in Palm Beach Gardens, Palm Beach, Stuart, and Boca Raton.
Criminal Justice Commission adds three members
Deeawn Roundtree, Cyrus Toufanian and Jerry C. Leakey were recently added to the Palm Beach County Criminal Justice Commission. Roundtree is an award-winning CEO of Roundtree Training & Consulting and a nationally recognized leadership coach, corporate trainer, and keynote speaker. Toufanian, Esq. is a board certified criminal trial lawyer whose practice focuses on state and federal criminal defense. Leakey is a staff attorney at the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County with the Pro Bono Department.
Four Romano Law Group attorneys recognized for outstanding work
Romano Law Group recently announced that attorney Eric Romano has been named to the 2026 Florida Super Lawyers Top 100 list, an honor recognizing attorneys who received the highest levels of peer recognition and professional achievement during the Super Lawyers selection process. This is Romano’s third consecutive appearance on a Super Lawyers Top 100 list. Founding attorney John F. Romano and partner Todd Romano were selected to the 2026 Florida Super Lawyers list. John Romano has been selected to Super Lawyers every year since 2006. Todd Romano was recognized for his work representing plaintiffs in personal injury and product liability matters. Attorney Caroline Zapiec was selected to the 2026 Florida Rising Stars list, which recognizes accomplished attorneys who are either 40 years old or younger or have practiced law for 10 years or fewer.
Norton Museum of Art adds resident contemporary curator
Seasoned curator René Morales, who has held leadership positions at the Pérez Art Museum Miami and the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, has begun his residency as the Glenn W. & Cornelia T. Bailey contemporary curator in residence this summer at the Norton Museum of Art. Using a residency model allows the Norton to bring distinguished curatorial voices into the institution in a flexible way, broadening its connections with artists, collectors, galleries, and cultural networks that can help shape the growth of its contemporary collection as the museum looks ahead to continued growth. Morales' term began in July.
The Carbonell Awards adds two to their board of directors
The Carbonell Awards, South Florida’s Theatre & Arts Honors, has announced that Jacob Aronin and Alexa Kuve have joined the nonprofit organization’s board of directors. Aronin is the director of education for the Broward Center for the Performing Arts and oversees a comprehensive portfolio of arts education initiatives serving learners of all ages, including the nation's largest free arts-in-education program. Kuve, the recipient of last year’s Ruth Foreman Award, is the founder, executive producer and artistic director of Arca Images, a nonprofit artistic production organization based in Miami since 2001. The Carbonell Awards fosters the artistic growth of professional theater in South Florida by celebrating the diversity of our theater artists, providing educational scholarships, and building audience appreciation and civic pride by highlighting achievements of our theater community.
Real estate firm Basis Industrial names CEO and COO
Basis Industrial, a vertically integrated real estate owner and operator, recently announced the expansion of its executive leadership team with Anthony Scavo assuming the role of CEO and managing partner, and the appointment of Nisha Patel as chief operating officer. The leadership changes reflect the company's continued evolution as Basis Industrial has expanded its national portfolio to more than 10 million square feet of multi-tenant industrial and self-storage assets. Scavo will continue leading the company's overall vision, investment strategy and long-term growth initiatives while overseeing the executive leadership team. Patel will oversee Basis Industrial's asset management, property management and legal departments as COO.
