Grammy-award winner Zac Brown has been named Godfather of Margaritaville’s new cruise ship, scheduled to set sail in January from Miami.
The multi-platinum artist known for hits such as “Chicken Fried,” “Toes,” “Colder Weather,” “As She’s Walking Away” and “Knee Deep,” will perform onboard Margaritaville at SeaBeachcomber before its inaugural sailing Jan. 9. The ship also will include a live music venue called Same Boat that Brown helped design and select the musical acts.
“It’s been so much fun working with the Margaritaville at Sea family to bring Same Boat on Beachcomber to life,” Brown said. “I’m really proud of what we’ve created together, and being named Godfather of Beachcomber is a true honor. I’m also really thankful for their support
of the tour and for how this partnership has grown.
"What I love most is knowing that people are going to step on this ship with their families and friends, have an amazing time and make memories they’ll have forever. I’m just really excited to be a part of it and can’t wait for people to experience her.”
Zac Brown’s connection to Margaritaville at Sea
Margaritaville at SeaBeachcomber’s onboard live music venue was named after Brown’s song “Same Boat.”
A remix of the song featured Jimmy Buffett, who inspired the Margaritaville brand and eventually became a co-owner. Throughout Beachcomber’s inaugural season, the live music venue Same Boat will feature a rotating roster of artists Brown helped picked.
Aside from performing before the first sailing, Brown also will have a concert in Nassau Jan. 28 when the Margaritaville at Sea fleet will gather together for the first time. The three ships are the new Beachcomber, Islander and Paradise.
“Zac has become an important part of the Margaritaville at Sea family, and naming him Godfather of Beachcomber is a natural next step in a partnership that continues to grow,” said Christopher Ivy, Chief Executive Officer of Margaritaville at Sea. “He shares our belief that great music, memorable experiences and bringing people together can turn a vacation into something much more. Zac has already put his own stamp on Beachcomber, and we couldn’t imagine a better person to help us officially welcome her to the fleet.”
Zac Brown Band is currently in the midst of a nationwide “Love & Fear” tour, which stopped in Florida last week. Margaritaville at Sea is the presenting sponsor of ZBB’s 27-date tour, which kicked off in July and runs through November.
During the group’s Aug. 2 performance at Fenway Park — its record-breaking 15th consecutive sold-out show at the iconic baseball stadium — the estimated 35,000 attendees each received a cruise aboard Margaritaville at Sea. The gift was valued at more than $40 million and, according to Brown’s reps, the largest audience gifting in live entertainment history.
Where will Margaritaville at SeaBeachcomber sail to?
Departing from PortMiami, Beachcomber will have four to eight-night itineraries to the Eastern and Southern Caribbean.
In October 2027, the ship will start departing from Galveston, Texas. From there it will sail throughout Mexico and the Western Caribbean.
