The Miami Dolphins placed safety Kyle Louis, a fourth-round draft pick, on injured reserve and signed cornerback Jaylin Simpson to the active roster off the practice squad.
The Dolphins also added long snapper Cal Adomitis to the practice squad as possible protection if Tucker Addington is unable to play in this weekend’s game at the San Francisco 49ers.

Louis, who has a knee injury, will miss games against the 49ers, Chiefs, Vikings and Bengals. Following the Oct. 11 home game against Cincinnati, the Dolphins have a bye on Oct. 18, meaning a logical game for him to return might be on Oct. 25 at the New York Jets. That will be the first game he's eligible to be activated.
“He’ll be out this week for sure,” coach Jeff
Hafley said of Louis earlier this week, when tests were still taking place. “Might be a few weeks.”
Simpson and Adomitis were both waived by Green Bay on cut-down day.
Simpson, 26, is a 6-foot, 180-pound cornerback from Auburn who was Indianapolis’ fifth-round pick in 2024.
He appeared in one game for the Packers last season, making eight tackles. After being cut by Green Bay, he joined Miami’s practice squad the next day.
Adomitis, 28, has four years of NFL experience, playing 58 total games for Cincinnati and Philadelphia. He appeared in eight games with the Eagles last year.
Addington was favoring a shoulder after a special teams play in Las Vegas, forcing linebacker Jacob Rodriguez to take practice long snaps on the sideline in case of emergency.
“It came pretty close,” Hafley said, of having to use Rodriguez in that role. “I mean at one point, that was the plan. And I got to give Tucker a lot of credit … for the way that he came out and snapped and played with what he went through.”
