BOYNTON BEACH — The sun beamed over an active construction site as city officials, Community Redevelopment Agency members and the Hyperion Group executives turned some dirt for the official groundbreaking of the soon to be Ocean One residential complex.
Ocean One is one of Boynton Beach's signature projects— a 3.5-acre site along Federal Highway north of Ocean Avenue. The project, by Hyperion Group, will consist of 371 apartments plus about 27,000 square feet of commercial space.
Construction started in May, with completion slated for mid-2028.
"I have to say that I'm so glad to actually be here standing in front of Palm Beach officials and not asking for anything," Hyperion Chief Executive Robert Vecsler joked to the crowd.
"Ocean one has been
years in the making and reaching this point has required collaboration and commitment of an incredible group of partners," he continued.
In addition to new apartments, Ocean One also will have a plaza with restaurants and shops.
The complex will create a destination for people not only living in Boynton Beach but elsewhere in the county, Vecsler said.

With Palm Beach County's continued population growth, Veclser expects continued demand for rental housing in communities outside more high-profile cities such as West Palm Beach, Delray Beach or Boca Raton.
Hyperion is no stranger to Palm Beach County. In 2024, the company completed Lumaire, a 475-unit, 23-story rental complex in West Palm Beach, overlooking Clear Lake on the downtown's western edge.
"Ocean One represents our belief that great communities are built around places where people can live, work, shop or gather. By bringing new residents, businesses and street-level activity to this site, this project will bring new energy and new opportunities to downtown," Vecsler said.
