MIAMI GARDENS ― The Miami Dolphins have a new CEO and head of football operations and it's Stephen Ross' son-in-law, Daniel Sillman.
It's no surprise that Sillman, an experienced sports executive, is taking over control as he's been positioned for this takeover for years. The Dolphins will now be under the umbrella of Ross Sports & Entertainment.
Tom Garfinkel will step away from his role as Dolphins President and CEO. But he will remain with the organization as a vice chairman of the Dolphins, Hard Rock and Miami Grand Prix.
“Danny’s deep familiarity with the organization's businesses, combined with his experience building globally recognized sports and media companies, uniquely positions him to lead Ross Sports & Entertainment into its next phase
of operation," Ross said in a statement. "He understands our culture, our ambitions, and where we're headed, and I have complete confidence in his ability to lead the organization into this new era.”
General manager Jon-Eric Sullivan, coach Jeff Hafley and executive Brandon Shore will report directly to Sillman.

I've had the privilege of working alongside many of them and have seen firsthand the culture, ambition and relentless pursuit of excellence that define this enterprise.

Ross thanked Garfinkel for his successes.
“Tom has had one of the most impactful executive tenures in professional sports history,” read a part of Ross' statement. “When he joined our organization, we envisioned creating a world-class sports and entertainment company that would redefine what was possible for a franchise, a stadium and a community. Together we turned that vision into reality."
