Loggerhead Marinelife Center is bringing back its monthlong marine debris outreach initiative, Tour de Trash.
In recognition of International Coastal Cleanup Month, the center will host public beach cleanups, environmental education opportunities and sustainability-focused events throughout September.
The campaign kicks off Sept. 5 with the Blue Friends Society Cleanup from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Loggerhead Marinelife Center. The center's Blue Friends Society beach cleanups occur weekly. Participants should meet at the center's east entrance to check in and pick up cleanup supplies before heading to the beach. In celebration of the campaign kickoff, participants can enjoy 10% off at Tortuga Café and the gift store on the day of the event.
The cleanup
events continue throughout Palm Beach County, and guests can participate at the following events:
- 5-7 p.m. Sept. 8, Town of Palm Beach in partnership with the Worth Avenue Association, located at N. Ocean Way and Mediterranean Road.
- 8-10 a.m. Sept. 12, Phil Foster Park in partnership with Cox Science Center and Aquarium and Pura Vida Divers. As a special thank-you for participating, the first 100 participants will also receive a complimentary beer ticket from Stormhouse Brewing.
- 5:30-7:30 p.m. Sept. 15, Coral Cove Park, with the first 100 participants receiving a free beer ticket from DAS Beer Garden.
- 5:30-7:30 p.m. Sept. 22, Carlin Park, with the first 100 participants receiving a free beer ticket from DAS Beer Garden.
Participants can win prizes and receive free T-shirts
The first 50 participants at each event will receive a limited-edition International Coastal Cleanup T-shirt. Plus, one participant will have the chance to win two complimentary tickets to Stormhouse Brewing's Cheers & Beers Festival.

Loggerhead Marinelife Center, located in Loggerhead Park, Juno Beach, is a sea turtle research, rehabilitation, education and conservation center.
The center also manages the Juno Beach Pier across the street from the park.
Established in 1983, LMC seeks to promote conservation of ocean ecosystems with a special focus on threatened and endangered sea turtles. Its facilities include a sea turtle hospital, a research laboratory and exhibit areas, including live sea turtles and other coastal creatures.
