The vaunted Miami-Florida State rivalry has been one of streaks since 2010. And the chapter that will be written tonight in South Florida is clearly taking place in a Hurricanes era.
No. 3 Miami (5-0, 3-0 in ACC) has overwhelmed its competition as it seeks to get back to the national championship game. Behind new quarterback Darian Mensah, the Canes have the nation's No. 1 offense scoring nearly 50 points per game, while the defense is the only one allowing fewer than 10 per game. On the other ends sits FSU, down to 3-3 (1-2) after a humiliating 44-20 loss last week to Louisville. The Seminoles have lost their last eight road conference games as the seat under coach Mike Norvell gets hotter and hotter.
Over the past 16 years, the shortest winning
streak either team has had over their fiercest rival is three (FSU from 2021-23). UM has handily won both meetings since their return to national contender status in 2024. Though last year's final in Tallahassee was a modest 28-22, two long touchdowns from Malachi Toney helped the Canes to a 25-point lead by the end of the third quarter, and FSU didn't dwindle the deficit back to one score until there were 20 seconds left.

Miami vs Florida State predictions, picks for college football Week 7
Liam Rooney, Tallahassee Democrat
Miami 52, FSU 24: "The Hurricanes are one of the best teams in the country, and Mensah has operated the offense at a really high level, which leaves FSU's defense little room for error. I think the Seminoles offense will put up a respectable number, but Miami's firepower is too much, and the Hurricanes will get a big rivalry win."
Pete Fuitak, College Football News
Miami 40, FSU 17: "Miami won’t get caught up in the emotion. It’ll step up the defense after the first ten minutes, and then Darian Mensah will go to work. The Miami star is hitting 84% of his passes, and he’s not going to force anything."
Austin Veazey, NoleGameday
Miami 48, FSU 13: "This is going to be a loss. It’s the most lifeless that this rivalry has ever felt. Is it going to be non-competitive enough to wake up to a Pete Thamel tweet on Sunday saying that Norvell has been fired? Only time will tell."
Bill Bender, Sporting News
Miami 42, FSU 19: "The Seminoles allowed an average of 47 points in losses to Alabama and Louisville – and the Hurricanes have an offense that can score in bunches around Darian Mensah. The defense allows an FBS-best 1.8 yards per carry."
