On Oct. 1, JetBlue Airways added another way for Floridians to experience Colombia with new service to Barranquilla.
The new daily, nonstop route between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Ernesto Cortissoz International Airport (BAQ) joins Medellín and Cartagena in JetBlue’s Colombian network, the carrier said in a release

"We're excited to welcome Barranquilla to the JetBlue network and give customers another great option for traveling between South Florida and Colombia,” said Daniel Shurz, JetBlue senior VP of revenue, network and enterprise planning. “Fort Lauderdale continues to grow as an important connecting gateway for JetBlue,
connecting customers from Barranquilla not only to South Florida but also to destinations across JetBlue’s broader network across the U.S and beyond."
Limited introductory fares start at $139 in JetBlue's main option and $238 for the EvenMore fare, on sale now at jetblue.com. Travelers between Fort Lauderdale and Barranquilla will fly on JetBlue’s Airbus A320 aircraft featuring free high-speed Wifi, live TV at every seat, and complimentary snacks and drinks for main customers. EvenMore customers can get extra legroom, priority security where available, early boarding, dedicated overhead bin space, and other perks.
The new routes are part of an aggressive push to become the dominant carrier in South Florida. Since the abrupt closure of its major competitor, Spirit, JetBlue has cut routes and airports elsewhere to pour resources into its services at FLL and add dozens of new or returning routes, with plans to reach 150 daily flights.
Where is Barranquilla, Colombia?
Barranquilla is a major port city located on the northern Caribbean coast of Colombia, about 60 miles northeast of Cartagena.
"Located on Colombia's Caribbean coast, Barranquilla is a dynamic hub for business, culture and tourism and home to the world-renowned Carnaval de Barranquilla, one of Colombia’s most celebrated traditions," JetBlue said.

South America tourism rising in Florida
Florida has seen a rise in tourism from South America, which accounted for 27% of all visitors to the state in 2025, according to VisitFlorida.org. Colombia alone saw a 6% year-over-year increase in 2025, with 655,000 visitors to our shores.
Visitors from Canada to Florida have slowed in recent years, due to backlash from President Donald Trump's on-again, off-again tariffs and frequent threats to annex the country.
In May, JetBlue announced plans to offer nonstop service between Fort Lauderdale and Caracas, Venezuela, by the end of the year. American Airlines had already resumed service there, with a temporary break after a pair of earthquakes devastated the area in June, killing thousands and displacing many more.
In December, Frontier Airlines is adding its first routes to the continent with nonstop connections between Orlando and Bogotá, Cartagena, and Medellín in Colombia, subject to government approval.
