Was there a meteor in the sky this morning above Palm Beach County? Or maybe a strange comet? Actually, it was none of the above.
It was a space jellyfish!
Thanks to NASA's resupply mission last night, SpaceX CRS-35, Floridians, including Palm Beach County, got to see a glowing visual effect early this morning.
This is SpaceX's 35th resupply mission under its Commercial Resupply Services contract with NASA. Launching from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at 6:33 a.m. this morning, the Cargo Dragon spacecraft will deliver about 6,500 pounds of supplies and science to the space station, including an experiment by students at Florida Tech in Melbourne, Florida.

What exactly is a space jellyfish?
A space jellyfish is a phenomenon that occurs when sunlight reflects off a high-altitude
rocket exhaust plume. It happens in the few minutes just before sunrise or just after sunset, when the ground is dark, but sunlight reaches the upper atmosphere.
