Be proactive with Palm Beach County traffic
We are buried in traffic because road infrastructure has not kept up with growth. Now Palm Beach County commissioners have been told we need a road capacity increase for future traffic, and what’s the answer ― "no." It’s the usual too expensive reasons but, the next excuse is priceless. A bigger road will attract more traffic. I don’t know what the logic here is but it sounds weird. Whatever the excuses, this type of thinking is why we are in the quagmire of traffic jams now. There will always be more traffic. You don’t make a road bigger because of now. You build it because you will need it later before it’s an issue. You know the word: proactive.

Mayor's Ball participation draws accolades
By representing the Palm Beach County Commission at the Mayor’s Ball, Vice Mayor Marci Woodward chose to rise above partisan loyalties and support a cause that benefits our entire community. Her presence helped the Homeless Coalition of Palm Beach County raise vital funds that will support a broad network of organizations providing housing assistance, essential services, and hope to our neighbors in need.
This leadership is especially important at a time when governments at every level are facing difficult budget decisions and social service funding is increasingly being viewed as discretionary rather than essential. The challenges of homelessness, poverty and instability do not recognize party labels and neither should our commitment to addressing them. Vice Mayor Woodward’s actions remind us that elected officials are at their best when they focus on serving people rather than advancing political interests. Her courage, compassion and willingness to do what is right set an example that politicians across the political spectrum would do well to follow.

Sorry Canada for our bad behavior
I have lived in Florida alongside winter visitors from Canada for over 50 years. Like everyone else, the Canadians migrate down here every winter to get out of the cold. With the exception of their funny accent and the fact they sometimes tip too light, no one has anything bad to say about our Canadian visitors. So, I feel compelled to openly apologize to them for the obnoxious hate language spewed by our nasty president. Trump called them "nasty," which could not be further from the truth. All of this because the Canadian government refused to bow down to Trump and agree to be the United States' 51st state. Heck, if I weren't born here, I would not want to be a citizen of a country with such an incredible jerk, liar, cheat and thief as its leader. I am terribly embarrassed to have hateful Trump as our president. I'm sorry Canadians.
