The Palm Beach Post's Aug. 9 article on
road and traffic congestion was interesting. A lot of various tech solutions were explored with air taxi service (I’m sure that will be affordable for a lot of drivers), self-driving cars and traffic mitigation solutions. I did notice that Tri-Rail services were never mentioned, and that actually does pull some traffic off the road.
Too bad government doesn’t want to fund it. All these ideas aren’t going to address the underlying problem: The roads are over capacity. Continued building of residential and business development for years without shoring up roads first have left Florida playing catch up, and we continue to do it. New rules allow developers to bypass community concerns and build without proper review. We need housing but, there has to be accountability for building the infrastructure to support it first, not explore mitigating solutions when it becomes a problem later.

Decoy plane diminishes Trump
[President] Trump took his grifted Qatari jet to Turkey to inflate his own ego even though he knew the lack of security upgrades made it unsafe to fly out of the states. Unsafe enough that a credible threat from Iran led him to secretly take the more secure backup plane home. The Qatari jet also left carrying the press corps and military officials and here’s the part I can’t get my head around. The President of the United States used the plane and everyone aboard as a decoy to save his own miserable skin. What type of person does that?

Thank you for a great review of all candidates in all races. By breaking the races down daily, it gave us a chance to digest each candidate’s strengths. Hopefully voters will see which candidates are better aligned with their goals.

Over the years, President Donald J. Trump has provided us with nicknames for individuals he has a disagreement with. The examples include: "Little Marco," "Piggy," "Pocahontas" and "Shifty Schiff." As of now, no one has provided a nickname for "The Donald" himself. I have several for consideration: "Sleepy Don," "Mafia Don," "General Bone Spurs," "Tariff Man" and my favorite, "Sour Kraut." Have fun coming up with others.

Fauci hearing's outright harassment
Is there not one Republican in Congress who lost a friend, neighbor or loved one during the COVID pandemic? Every reader must remember the early dark days with reports of thousands of deaths and refrigeration trucks used as morgues. They must know of a front-line worker at the time without enough protection at work and then went home to cry themselves to sleep. The science was unknown. As we learned more, the protocols changed. Why does this Congress have nothing better to do than harass an 85-year-old, retired public servant? How about Rick Scott (who also took the fifth) and Ashley Moody begin investigating the grifting and military incompetence of this current administration or, at least, their past advice to drink bleach.
