One cat survived but another didn't make it after an early morning fire tore through a Loxahatchee home early Sunday.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue responded to a house fire in the area of 46th Court North, about 3 miles northwest of Lion Country Safari, after 4:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Smoke alarms woke the family inside the home. They evacuated safely as the fire burned through the front of the house and into the attic.
The surviving cat was reunited with the family.
Investigators are working to determine the origin and cause of the fire. The Red Cross has been contacted to assist the family.
