The Presidents Cup gets underway today, the last big golf tournament of 2026. The United States looks to continue its dominance in the 32-year-old competition, while the International team of players from Asia, Africa, South America, Australia and Canada will play for its first win since 1998 (or at least its first tie since 2003).
Despite the U.S. being heavy favorites, there are big questions around how Scottie Scheffler will perform. The world No. 1 may have won his second FedEx Cup title a month ago, but his history in team events isn't great, going 6-11-4 between the Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup. Captain Brandt Snedeker has plenty of top talent to choose from: He's got eight of the top 11 in the World Golf Ranking.
But expect a fair amount
of eyes on another American as 21-year-old Jackson Koivun makes his team debut two months after his first win on tour. And on the International team, 46-year-old Adam Scott has become the rallying point to pick up his first Presidents Cup win.

Day 1 of the 2026 Presidents Cup will broadcast nationally on Golf Channel starting at 12:30 p.m. Teams will take part in four-ball (best ball) play with two-player teams facing off and playing their pair's best drive on each hole.

What is the Presidents Cup?
The Presidents Cup is a team golf event run by the PGA Tour pitting 12 U.S. players against 12 from around the world (excluding Europe, which competes in the Ryder Cup). It started in 1994 and takes place every other year, the off years of the Ryder Cup. There are 30 matches of four-ball, foursome and singles play over four days, and the team that reaches 15.5 first wins the trophy. The United States is 13-1-1 throughout the tournament's history and has won 10 in a row.
