Where's our Reflecting Pool refunds?
Why hasn't anyone asked for a refund for the $13 million botched Reflecting Pool job? This all started when a billionaire president decided to give a "no bid" contract to his friend, political contributor and current pool management firm. I believe the taxpayers are owed a refund or at the very least the president who approved the deal should reach into his own deep pockets and make the taxpayers whole again. Consider the fact that the president has a reputation of stiffing or suing contractors when it's his own money but no problem when it comes to throwing taxpayers money away.

The law is the High Court's only job
Recently, The Post had an article reporting the poor favorability ratings of the U.S. Supreme Court. Favorability for the Supreme Court is
irrelevant. Their job is not to stick their licked fingers in the air to see which way the wind is blowing, but to simply determine whether the matter they are considering is consistent with the law or the Constitution. If you disagree with a Supreme Court decision, change the law.

Florida lottery's bait and switch
Years ago I signed a petition for the State of Florida to sell lottery tickets. The selling point was that all profits from the lottery would be used to enhance the education of Florida students. Looking back, I see that cutbacks in education were being made in many counties. My question is, what happened to the lottery funds? Doing research, I discovered that the state had developed a swap plan, which was legal, but never helped education. If $10 million was listed for education in the budget, $10 million from the lottery could be substituted, but not added to the amount. The state then had $10 million to put wherever it wanted.
I thought the lottery money for education was in addition to state funding. This would have given school districts excess funds to hire experienced personal at much higher salaries, enhanced and streamlined curriculum, and provide more elementary guidance counselors to provide more service for both students and parents. It’s not too late for the Florida Legislature to make sure that lottery money is added to, and not a substitute for school district funding.

Snatching defeat from jaws of victory
"I have never belonged to an organised political party, I'm a Democrat," the words of Will Rogers. So, two terms of President Trump's near total grip on the government is not enough for Democrats. When our very right to vote and a free press are at risk, the Democrats are working diligently to destroy what seemed like a midterm slam dunk. Go ahead Democratic Socialists of America, trumpet on FOX News to defund the police, open the border and jails, and see what that gets you. Certainly that will convince a Republican voter who knows Trump is a criminal and might vote for a Democrat to turn tail and run back to the right.
