A man was arrested after attacking his sister with a machete while she slept in bed next to her 1-year-old daughter, Florida police said.
Ruben Altidore, 36, entered his sister’s bedroom in Margate, which is about 10 miles from Fort Lauderdale, and attempted to kill her, according to an arrest report obtained by WPLG.
"Oh my God, why aren’t you dead yet?" he shouted during the attack, according to the arrest report.
Altidore was arrested Aug. 3 and charged with attempted felony murder, aggravated child abuse and violation of probation, according to jail records.
His sister survived the attack with serious injuries, including a 10-inch wound that reached the bone on the back of her right thigh, a four-inch laceration to the back of her right hand
with the possible amputation of at least four fingers, a near amputation of her left index finger and thumb and a cut to her left palm with a near amputation of her left thumb, according to investigators.

The victim’s daughter was not injured but was found in the bed covered in blood, investigators said.
The woman was able to escape to a neighbor’s house to get help. A large amount of blood inside the victim’s bedroom was found leading through a hallway and outside the home. that was tracked into the hallway, to a bathroom door and outside the home.
A machete sheath was found in the kitchen, and a machete was found under a bed with what appeared to be "red smudges," investigators said.
Altidore was taken to jail and is being held without bond. A motive for the attack has not been announced.
