Byron Donalds' latest attack ad on his
Democratic opponent, David Jolly, makes statements that seals the deal for me to vote for David Jolly. First, the ad announces that Donalds has the endorsement of Ron DeSantis, as if he is less toxic than Donald Trump, who Donalds has unceremoniously dumped as a political liability. Donalds whines that Jolly called DeSantis an "abject failure" and if elected would "undo the DeSantis agenda," an agenda Donalds pledges to keep.
How can that be a negative when one considers DeSantis' record of achievement? DeSantis' has set back social norms in Florida 100 years with his "anti-woke" rants. He has fearmongered regarding immigrants and has single-handedly killed Canadian tourism. DeSantis has turned his back on public education and public health care. He had made Florida a tax haven for the uber rich, while doing nothing to address the "affordability" crisis in Florida. In reality, advertising that Donalds will be a continuation of the DeSantis agenda is Jolly's best political weapon.

What happened to the 'land of the free?'
When did we become a nation where a misread facial ID can put a person in jail, where a surveillance camera can accuse a person of a crime in a place they never were, where armed military patrol the streets and masked thugs can kidnap, beat or shoot people simply for looking different? When did American citizens and legal immigrants become afraid to walk the streets, or even send their children to school? When did people become required to “show your papers” when confronted by a storm trooper with an AR-15? Benjamin Franklin argued that anyone willing to give up freedom for security deserved neither and anyone who is not angry or scared about what is happening in this country has not been affected by it. Yet, “First they came for ……”

Enough with the 'Russia, Russia, Russia'
Comrade Trump keeps doing everything he can to support Russia in their war with Ukraine while insulting the European Union and NATO, which have been our allies for over 70 years. Since Trump has been in office 2025, he has cut most all support for Ukraine and even blamed them for starting the war with Russia. Trump has even entertained Vladimir Putin on American soil, has lobbied to have Russia put back in the G7 and invited Putin to the upcoming G20 meeting at his Doral Club in Miami. Trump now has thrown Russia a new economic lifeline by dropping oil sanctions and pausing other sanctions, even after the passage of the Lindsey Graham Bill to increase sanctions on Russia to help Ukraine end the war. When will voters wake up and acknowledge that Trump will do all he can to help Putin and Russia? With Trump, it’s "Russia, Russia, Russia," as it was in the 2016 presidential election.
