Tickets to HarbourFest, a two-day music festival expected to draw more than 7,500 people to an outdoor plaza in Jupiter, are free this year.
HarbourFest, which had its debut last year, will bring 16 bands and artists, including former “American Idol” and “The Voice” contestants, and food vendors to Harbourside Place at U.S. 1 and East Indiantown Road on Friday, Oct. 16, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 17, from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. The festival will take over the amphitheater on the north side of the complex.
This year’s festival features 10 more artists than last year. The festival is backed by the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce, Jupiter Medical Center, the Town of Jupiter and other community partners.
major food court change. Why members should be excited
The event is free to attend this year because organizers want to “expand the festival footprint,” a spokesperson said. This year, the festival is adding a second stage and more music acts and hopes to welcome more attendees. Last year, nearly 5,000 people attended the festival.
Organizers describe it as "coastal country" — a good dose of country with Americana, pop, rock and singer-songwriter elements to round out the mix.
“We’re excited to welcome residents and visitors alike to this uniquely Jupiter experience,” wrote Noel Martinez, president and chief executive officer of the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce, in a prepared statement. “Whether you're shopping local, enjoying a bite with friends, or soaking in the music, HarbourFest is designed to bring people together and celebrate the best of our town.”

Bryant Thomas, who lives in Lake Worth Beach, recently appeared in the 24th season of “American Idol.” During the season premiere, he sang Phil Collins’ “Against All Odds” with a raspy, powerful voice and then proposed to his fiancée Alyona Palhof – still on the stage and in front of the judges.
Thomas’ fame rapidly grew when Palhof recorded a video of herself getting ready for the day with Thomas singing in the shower in the background. She posted it on social media and it quickly hit 1 million views.
Why is there a music festival at Harbourside Place?
The music festival was originally expected to breathe new life into Harbourside Place, which has in the past struggled to attract a steady stream of visitors to some of its shops. Three years ago, it was the site of tragedy. One man died and four people were injured after suffering electrical shocks in its fountain.
HarbourFest made its debut in the wake of the cancellation ofSunFest, which was Palm Beach County’s largest live music event, and a trend of retrenching music festivals nationwide. Still, festival owners said it isn’t meant to be an alternative to SunFest, but a different, Jupiter-focused event.
The festival is expected to return to Jupiter annually.
