Paramedics took a person under age 15 to a trauma center on Sunday, Aug. 23, after receiving a 911 call said the person had been struck by lightning near Boynton Beach.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue said crews were dispatched at about 2:30 p.m. to the 2000 block of Northwest 20th Avenue, near the Sand and Sea Village neighborhood west of Congress Avenue.
Crews found one person who met pediatric trauma alert criteria, meaning they were at or under 15 years old, Fire Rescue said in a prepared statement. Paramedics drove that person to a trauma center the agency did not specify. The person was receiving first aid from bystanders when paramedics arrived.
There were no reports of other injuries, Fire Rescue said.
