A driver rear-ended a Boca Raton fire truck Wednesday morning as crews worked to clear the scene of an earlier crash in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95.
The driver was driven to a nearby hospital as a trauma alert, and the extent of their injuries is unclear. All three firefighters in the truck were also hospitalized, one for treatment of minor injuries and two for precautionary evaluations.
A department spokesperson said crews had gathered along the highway in response to an initial crash at 6:03 a.m. He did not identify anyone involved in the crash nor say whether criminal charges are pending. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.
