PBSO protection worth the price
Mike Diamond's article in The Post is the most demagogue voice against the local police. The misguided populist picture undermines the most dangerous profession of police work. If Palm Beach County residents put on a scale "money" and "security" of their daily life, they don't oppose the price. Our children and all of us need committed police protection, at any price. If the untimely article wanted to support a new sheriff, let's see his or her proposal.

Reality is Trump is on the ballot
As our president continues to abandon our allies like Europe and Canada, as he continues to welcome Communist leaders and dictators to America, as he continues to support the Russian war against Ukraine by purchasing billions of dollars worth of diesel and dropping
sanctions, we are left to wonder if he has finally completely lost it. We are also left wondering how long Republicans will remain complicit by not challenging these decisions. This president's unhinged actions have compelled me for the first time in my life to vote strictly along party lines. I urge everybody to join me. The time for change is now, and we have both the obligation and the ability to do something about it on Nov. 3.

Retirement a loss for sports coverage
Hal Habib is retiring? Say it isn’t so! Though I’m just a casual sports fan, whenever I saw his byline, I read his piece to the end. Thank you, Hal.

Who needs the White House press secretary?
Is the position of White House press secretary obsolete? When the job was first created in 1929 the many avenues of information available to 21st century Americans did not exist, and a representative of the president was the only reliable source of White House updates about international and national developments. Today journalists attend briefings primarily to opinionate via questions on topics of which they are already well-versed.
What they receive is usually total obfuscation of facts, especially with this particular administration. Since our current president has no love for the media, the elimination of a press secretary seems to be the next step. The Fourth Estate can then be redirected to Truth Social for up-to-the minute bulletins.

Getting in the weeds on voter titles
The press seems to keep promoting the myth of the "independent voter." Highly revered by the Fourth Estate, poll after poll reports on the anticipated direction of this special group. Yet the truth is, in a federal election every single registered voter is in fact an "independent voter." Now while all registered voters are "independent voters," there are two distinct classes of voters, "affiliated" and "unaffiliated."
Affiliated voters belong to a group of like-minded citizens who have formed a political party ― Democrats, Republicans, Green Party or any name they want to choose. The unaffiliates get to choose from those on the ballot crafted by the affiliates, or they can totally waste their vote and write in anyone. Kudos to our Florida registrars who make this distinction clear by using NPA (No Party Affiliation), for those candidates that do not belong to a political party. It would be to clarify this for voters and stop misleading the public.
