Regarding Amendment 3, Boca Raton Mayor
Andy Thomson stated at the Tower Club: "We will have to make tough decisions if it passes in order to make sure that we are living within our means." At the same event, Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis stated: "We're going to have to make some tough choices [if this passes]." This is outrageous.
Individual households all have to live within our means. Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale should be making those tough decisions every day, like we do. I am sick of these governmental bodies increasing their spending as more and more revenue pours in. Vote "Yes," and put more money in your pocket and force the local government agencies to spend your money wisely!

Christian nationalism, an alarming US problem
Many Jews in Palm Beach County watch the High Holiday services streamed from the Central Synagogue in New York City. They are beautiful, uplifting and educational. But, in an alarming sermon this past Yom Kippur, Rabbi Ari Lorge warned of a conscious shift of the United States government to a Christian nation. While pointing out that many Christians support Judaism and other religions, the rabbi noted that there are signs that a powerful group in this administration believes that Christianity is the way – and perhaps the only way.
As proof, he cited a statement on the Department of Homeland Security’s X account that was unnerving and possibly unconstitutional. It included the phrase, ”But go in grace and with knowledge of Our Lord Jesus Christ …” This may be appropriate in a house of worship, but not on a government site. Yet there are obviously those in government who believe that this is a Christian nation. In fact, Russell Vought, Director of Management and Budget, is a self-proclaimed Christian Nationalist with the Secretary of War’s Pete Hegseth right behind him. And current Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, was for many years legal counsel to an organization linked to Christian Nationalism. This is not conspiracy theory stuff. This is real and demands everyone’s attention now!

The US is a great place to visit, but ...
Regarding the recent letter writer who claimed that all of the millions of people who came from other countries for the World Cup thought that the U.S. was the greatest place on Earth: Well, we do know how to have a good time, I'll give him that. But I'm sure if asked if they would like to move away from their own country, that gives them their healthcare, education and paid parental leave, and move to the U..S, I suspect that most would decline and say it's a great place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there.
