Wellington Regional Medical Center has been recognized as a High Performing hospital for knee replacement in U.S. News & World Report’s 2026-2027 Best Hospitals edition. It is the highest distinction a hospital can earn in U.S. News’ Best Hospitals Procedures & Conditions ratings.
Fewer than half of the thousands of hospitals evaluated received a High Performing designation. The ratings are designed to help patients and healthcare providers make informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions or elective procedures.
What does the recognition mean?
The High Performing rating indicates that Wellington Regional Medical Center outperformed a national threshold in knee replacement care.
“When patients face a major surgery or a chronic medical condition,
having access to clear, quality data is vital,” said Ben Harder, U.S. News’ managing editor and chief of health analysis. “A ‘High Performing’ rating means that Wellington Regional Medical Center outperformed a national threshold, giving families a reliable starting point as they consult with their doctors to choose the best place for care.”
Pam Tahan, CEO of Wellington Regional Medical Center, expressed pride in the recognition.
"We are incredibly proud to be recognized among the top hospitals for knee replacement care. This achievement reflects the unwavering dedication of our physicians, nurses, therapists, and support teams who work collaboratively to deliver exceptional outcomes and compassionate care for every patient. At Wellington Regional Medical Center, we remain committed to advancing orthopedic excellence and helping our patients return to the activities they love with confidence and improved quality of life."
How were hospitals evaluated?
U.S. News evaluated nearly 4,500 hospitals across 14 adult specialties and 23 procedures and conditions. Less than half earned recognition in any of those 37 areas of care.
To determine the Best Hospitals, U.S. News analyzed each hospital’s performance based on objective measures such as risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and patient experience. The ratings use data from over 800 million records of patient care.
Wellington Regional Medical Center is a 235-bed, acute care hospital in Wellington. It is owned by a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc. and has been providing healthcare services to Palm Beach County residents since 1986.
