After one of the most consequential Saturdays in recent college football memory, the Miami Hurricanes have reached the summit in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll.
The Hurricanes found a way to win in the 43-35 double-overtime thriller over rival Florida State. But that result, along with losses by No. 1 Georgia, No. 2 Notre Dame and No. 5 Indiana
(to No. 4 Ohio State) helped propel Miami to No. 1 in the voters' minds on Oct. 18.It's the first time since December 2002 that Miami is atop the coaches poll after receiving 50 of the 73 first-place votes.
The Buckeyes jump up to No. 2 after the road win over the defending national champions, followed by BYU, which went up five spots after topping Notre Dame at home, Georgia, who dropped three spots after falling
at home to unranked Auburn.
Miami will next host Pittsburgh on Oct. 24 at noon at Hard Rock Stadium.
