A man is dead after a motorcycle and an SUV crashed along State Road 7 in suburban Boca Raton on Friday, Sept. 4, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said.
The Sheriff's Office did not identify the man, who Palm Beach County Fire Rescue paramedics pronounced dead at the scene, near the intersection of E.F. Johns Parkway west of Olympic Heights High School.
A crash report made public on Saturday, Sept. 5, said the crash happened just before 3 p.m. The SUV, a 2026 Chevrolet Equinox, was westbound on E.F. Johns and trying to turn left onto State Road 7. The motorcycle, a 2001 Yamaha YZF-R1, was northbound on State Road 7 and drove into the SUV's path.
The motorcycle struck the SUV's left rear door, and the force of the crash threw its rider partially
into the vehicle's back seat, the Sheriff's Office said.
The SUV driver, a 60-year-old suburban Boca Raton man, did not sustain injuries, according to the crash report.
It is not known how fast either vehicle was traveling at the time of the wreck. Neither alcohol nor drugs appear to have played a part in the crash, the Sheriff's Office said.
