The Dreyfoos School of the Arts Alumni Association gave a shout out to one of their very own, 2002 alumna Erin Krakow, who begins filming season 14 of Hallmark's "When Calls the Heart" this month.
In a Facebook post, the association writes "After moving to Florida, Erin continued pursuing her passion for acting at Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts, where she majored in Theatre. Looking back on her time at Dreyfoos, Krakow shared, "It was so fantastic. I learned so much when I was there."
Born in Philadelphia, Krakow later moved with her family to Wellington. After her time at Dreyfoos, she attended The Juilliard School, one of the country's most prestigious performing arts colleges, earning her Bachelor's in Fine Arts. In addition to Krakow,
Juilliard has produced a number of notable alumni including Viola Davis, Robin Williams and Oscar Isaac.
Krakow's first role was Tanya Gabriel in the Lifetime show Army Wives, that ran from 2010 to 2012. Since then she's become a recurring face on the Hallmark Channel starring in a number of movies: "A Cookie Cutter Christmas," "Blind Date Book Club," and "The Wedding Cottage."
Most fans may recognize her as Elizabeth Thatcher, the lead role in "When Calls the Heart," which enters its 14th season this year and begins filming in August. The show takes place in the 1900s and follows Thatcher, a young teacher, who leaves her upper society roots when she moves to Coal Valley, a mining town, for her first classroom assignment.
"When Calls the Heart" is now streaming on most major platforms including Amazon Prime, YoutubeTV, Apple TV, and Hallmark+.
