A man killed in a Boca Raton parking lot has been identified as 38-year-old Jairo J. Correa, a father of two from Miami.
City police say the driver of a silver Mercedes struck and killed Correa in the parking lot of 6500 Park of Commerce Boulevard on July 27. Investigators shared few details about what led to the collision, pointing only to a "domestic disturbance" between Correa and a woman in the lot between 8:20 a.m. and 9:10 a.m.
Police spokesperson Jessica Desir declined to identify the woman or her relationship to Correa. She also declined to say whether the woman was the driver of the Mercedes but added that both she and the car remained at the scene as officers investigated.
Desir, citing the ongoing investigation, also declined to say
whether Correa's death was ruled a homicide.
Correa's family started a GoFundMe on July 29 in search of donations to help cover funeral and memorial costs. They said his death created "an emptiness that can never truly be filled."
"He was an incredible father, a devoted boyfriend, a cherished son, a loyal friend, and someone his family could always count on," the fundraiser said. "His loved ones were incredibly close to him, and the bond they shared was one that words can hardly describe."
