MIAMI GARDENS ― The Miami Dolphins are holding their first practice of 2026 with fans in attendance Sunday, Day 4 of training camp.
A solid weekend crowd cheered as players made their way outside to the two practice fields after stretching indoors.
"Let's go, Dolphins!" fans chanted.
Unlike last year, players aren't firing up the crowd with brief comments on a field mic. Coach Jeff Hafleysaid he instead hopes players get the fans going by making plays.
Here are the plays of note:
◦ There was a special teams drill early in the workout. Malik Washington was returning a kick when he hit a cluster of players with a thud. But he bounced off and was fine.
◦ De'Von Achane began 11-on-11 drills with a nice dash up the middle.
◦ Malik Washington gained a handful
of yards on a run around end.
◦ Malik Willis threw a nice ball over LB Jordyn Brooks for a completion to TE Cole Turner, who reached high to haul it in. Washington followed with a nice downfield grab on the next play, giving the offense a nice start to the day.
◦ Quinn Ewers then took over and found Theo Wease for a first down on a crisp play. But Ewers later threw a ball to the outside that CB Chris Johnson intercepted.
◦ The Dolphins installed two video screens in front of the stands to explain the purpose of each of the drills players are going through on the field. Even better fringe benefit are the huge ceiling fans over the stands to stir the air, although on this day, cloud cover kept the conditions tolerable by our August standards.
◦ The practice for Monday, Aug. 3, will be the first in pads this year. Coach Jeff Hafley said it will give him a better read on the run game.
