The Palm Beaches-New York connection is showing up in another unexpected place: frozen yogurt.
BuddhaBerry, a dessert shop with locations in Sag Harbor and Southampton, is preparing its first Florida outpost to open Sept. 30 at CityPlace in West Palm Beach.
Its arrival marks the company's first move beyond New York's East End.
The expansion comes as frozen yogurt appears to be regaining traction locally, following the anticipated arrival of Go Greek Yogurt in downtown Palm Beach Gardens.
Nodding to a second trend, in 2025, West Palm Beach-born Mary Lou's expanded to Montauk, adding a link between two communities that increasingly share residents, visitors and restaurant brands.
A Hamptons favorite frozen yogurt heads south
The first BuddhaBerry opened in Sag Harbor more than a decade ago. The company
expanded to Southampton in 2024.
The West Palm Beach shop is its third location overall and first outside the Hamptons.
The move comes as developers and businesses continue to capitalize on growing links between Palm Beach County and affluent Northeastern enclaves.
While West Palm Beach's rise as "Wall Street South" continues to draw financial firms and executives from the Northeast, consumer brands are increasingly following them.
More than frozen yogurt
BuddhaBerry is best known for self-serve frozen yogurt paired with a sprawling toppings bar.
The company says customers can choose from more than 100 toppings, including everything from candy and cookie crumbles to granola and toasted quinoa. Froyo options include vegan, gluten-free and nut-free selections along with flavors containing probiotics.
The concept goes beyond frozen yogurt. The West Palm Beach location will serve smoothies, bubble tea, specialty coffee drinks, crepes and waffles. A retail section will offer toys and gifts for children and adults.
Another New York addition for CityPlace
CityPlace has become something of a landing pad for brands familiar to New York transplants.
Manhattan-born café Maman arrived in 2024, followed by David Chang's Fuku this summer. Equinox opened its first Palm Beach County fitness club there late 2025, while Harry's carries forward a restaurant tradition that began in New York generations earlier.
In that context, the arrival of a frozen yogurt shop from the Hamptons feels almost inevitable.
For this former New Yorker, it brings a sense of déjà vu. Years ago, when I belonged to the Amsterdam Avenue outpost of Equinox on Manhattan's Upper West Side, myriad frozen yogurt shops seemed to line nearly every surrounding block.
