A crane lowered a shipping container onto a lot at 8821 Southern Blvd. in West Palm Beach on Sept. 4, the first physical sign of Small Sliders, a new-to-Palm Beach County fast-food restaurant chain opening in November.
The container is a "Can," the compact 750-square-foot format painted in the chain's trademarked Smorange color, used in place of a traditional restaurant building.
It's the first of five planned locations in the county under local franchisee Todd Severson who brings 20 years of experience in restaurant ownership, technology and marketing.
The next location is slated at 4663 Hypoluxo Road in suburban Lake Worth Beach, at the corner of Hypoluxo Road and Military Trail beside 7 Brew.
Three additional Palm Beach County locations have
yet to be announced.
The structure itself is part of what's driving the chain's rapid growth: a smaller footprint and quicker installation than a typical restaurant, which lets it expand into more markets faster.
When the West Palm Beach location opens, it will also name a "Smalls Town Hero" — a local individual or organization who'll be honored with a check and donation at the celebration.
