Miami star receiver Malachi Toney left the Hurricanes' game Saturday, Oct. 24, with an injury.
In the second quarter against Pittsburgh, Toney tried to shake off tacklers and went down with an injury to his right ankle. He limped off the field, and ESPN's announcers reported he went into the medical tent. After the Hurricanes' drive ended, he was seen walking the sideline, still with a limp.
Toney is among the most electric players in college football. He had nine catches for 73 yards and a touchdown in the first quarter-and-a-half against Pittsburgh. He entered the game fifth in the country with 758 receiving yards, tied for third with 50 catches and tied for fifth with eight touchdowns.
He's briefly left UM games multiple times this season, first
against Wake Forest and at Clemson. He also briefly exited last week's game against Florida State.
Malachi Toney injury update
At the start of Miami's next possession, Toney was back on the field. He made a clutch third-down catch for 21 yards.
Toney's brief exit was reminiscent of his short injury outages vs. Clemson and FSU.

With about 9 minutes to go in the second quarter, Toney caught a short pass on a tunnel screen and tried to shake off Pitt defensive back Shawn Lee. When he did, he tried to make another cut to the right sideline and appeared to catch his right heel with his left foot, sending him to the turf.
Toney jogged off the field with a limp and made his way to the medical tent. He missed the rest of the drive but returned for the next possession.
