Tyler Cameron of Jupiter kicked, flicked and spun his way to success on another week of “Dancing with the Stars.”
The theme of the latest episode, which aired on Tuesday, Sept. 29, was “Yacht Rock Night,”
a nod to the soft rock music genre popular in the mid-1970s and mid-1980s. Cameron, 33, danced a complicated jive routine to “Still the One” by Orleans with his partner Sharna Burgess. They danced in front of a cruise ship-themed backdrop.
“No one has ever said I’m light on my feet,” Cameron said in the episode. “I am a bull in a china shop. We have to deliver or I’ll be on the chopping block again,” referring to his dance last week which nearly eliminated his team.
But this time, Cameron’s team scored a bit higher with a 17/30 score and drew some praise from the judges, who mostly harped on the dance’s imperfect timing.
Carrie Ann Inaba said that Cameron got the timing wrong in the beginning of the dance, but he “pulled it back together.” Derek Hough called it a “proper jive routine” with kicks that could have had more “attack.” Bruno Tonioli said the dance was “much, much better.”

After the dance, Cameron said he was upset with himself for getting the timing wrong at first. But he and Burgess’ jaws dropped when their names were called among the first five “safe” teams. They hugged in victory. Singer Taylor Hanson and pro dancer Britt Stewart were eliminated this episode.
“This is my mom’s dream,” Cameron said after the dance. “To be doing this right now just means the world.”
