Palm Beach County is home to some seriously great sandwiches.
From destination-worthy pastrami and turkey clubs to breakfast favorites and Chicken Caesar wraps, this list highlights the handheld meals I've found myself recommending again and again.
Enthusiasm for this spot extends well beyond county lines: Palm Beach Gardens' PikNik remains No. 11 on Yelp's national Top 100 Sandwich Spot list, putting the local eatery among the nation's most buzzed-about lunch destinations.
Since bagel sandwiches and Cubans deserve lists of their own, I've left them off this roundup. Instead, here are my current favorites from Tequesta to Boca Raton.
Destination sandwiches

Some sandwiches satisfy a craving. Others become the reason for the trip. These standout picks have earned loyal
followings for their craftsmanship, quality ingredients or sheer reputation.
Beauregard's in Boca Raton

A recommendation from fellow food lover Bill Swartz in Boynton Beach led me to Beauregard's, where thick-cut pastrami and exceptional rye bread make a compelling combination. The rye, sourced from Zak the Baker in Wynwood, provides the perfect foundation for a $27 Reuben loaded with Swiss cheese and sauerkraut.

Buccan, Palm Beach and West Palm Beach
Let's just say I've spent enough time here to understand why these shops have such a devoted following. Whatever sandwich you choose, spring for the West Palm location's exclusive $25.25 boxed lunch, which comes with warm house-made chips, a chocolate chip cookie and a refreshing drink that rounds out one of Palm Beach County's best lunch deals.

Narbona, Boca Raton

A staple of Uruguayan cuisine, Narbona's chivito layers tender beef, ham, bacon, mozzarella, lettuce, cherry tomatoes and a fried egg into one gloriously over-the-top sandwich. It's a knife-and-fork affair for some, but the combination of textures and flavors makes the $27 indulgence worthwhile.

PikNik, Palm Beach Gardens
The secret isn't so secret: It's the bread. French chef Christophe Bozzano builds his sandwiches on house-made loaves with carefully sourced ingredients that elevate every bite.

Breakfast favorites

Breakfast may be the most important meal of the day, but these morning favorites are substantial enough to satisfy well past noon. From biscuit sandwiches and fresh-baked bread to a hearty wrap, each makes a strong case for starting the day here.
Aioli, West Palm Beach

This tucked-away bakery-café consistently punches above its weight, and breakfast sandwiches are no exception. Fresh-baked bread and carefully sourced ingredients elevate a morning staple into something worth making a special trip for. Pro tip: On Saturday, breakfast sandwiches are available all day.

Alaina’s Café and Bake Shop, Palm Beach Gardens

When Guy Fieri visited Alaina's for "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives," he sampled the roast beef sandwich and homemade pasta. He missed out on the café's terrific "eggsquisite and eggcellent" $16 paninis, which pair eggs, cheese and other goodies inside a crisp, pressed sandwich.

Golden Juicery, Tequesta

The El Sol burrito rocked my world. Available exclusively at the Tequesta location, this hearty wrap packs eggs, potatoes, cheddar and chorizo into a breakfast substantial enough to fuel the day ahead.

Chicken Caesar wraps

Somewhere, a fictional New York Times trend reporter is smiling. Move over smashburgers, Chicken Caesar wraps are having a moment and these three Palm Beach County versions prove the hype is justified.
VC's Kitchen, Boca Raton

The mural inside VC's Kitchen calls Vincent Carbone "The OG," and chicken Caesar wrap fans may agree. Carbone developed a loyal following for the sandwich years ago, and his version remains a master class in simplicity: quality ingredients, generous portions and impeccable execution.

Mango Mercado, Palm Beach Gardens

The secret to Mango Mercado's Chicken Caesar wrap isn't just what's inside. This busy café makes its wraps fresh daily from a simple dough of flour, salt, water and oil which they cook on a flat-top grill, creating a tender, flavorful foundation for one of the county's standout versions.

Tavolena Bakery, Jupiter

A bakery might not be the first place you'd expect to find a standout Chicken Caesar wrap, but Tavolena delivers one of the area's best. The Jupiter favorite applies the same attention to detail found in its breads and pastries to a lunch classic that keeps customers coming back.

Talking turkey
The turkey club doesn't get nearly the attention of a Chicken Caesar wrap or towering deli sandwich, but it remains one of the most reliable orders on any menu. These versions elevate the classic with premium ingredients, thoughtful preparation and enough bacon to remind you why the sandwich became a staple in the first place.
Café Boulud, Palm Beach

I was torn between two great loves at Café Boulud: the superb pastrami sandwich and this classic turkey club. The club gets the nod thanks to its generous layers of roasted turkey and bacon, but it's a photo finish. The restaurant's crisp, housemade chips only make the decision harder, turning a simple lunch into one of Palm Beach's best midday meals.

Howley's, West Palm Beach

In an era of towering chef-driven creations, Howley's proves there's still magic in a classic. The turkey club delivers everything you want from the diner staple: plenty of turkey, crisp bacon, fresh vegetables and toasted bread that holds it all together. It's straightforward, satisfying and exactly the kind of sandwich that keeps generations of regulars coming back.

Tropical Smokehouse, Delray Beach and West Palm Beach

Most turkey clubs rely on bacon to do the heavy lifting. Not this one. Tropical Smokehouse piles on thick slices of house-smoked turkey that make every savory bite decadent, smoky and deeply satisfying. It's a barbecue lover's turkey sandwich and one of the county's best arguments for giving the club sandwich the respect it deserves.
