Authorities have arrested a Boca Raton man for threatening U.S. Rep. Jared Moskowitz, the congressman announced online.
“A constituent of mine has just been arrested in Boca Raton, just a few miles from my house, for threatening my life," Moskowitz said Oct. 22 said in a statement posted to his official Congressional website.
"He is currently in the Palm Beach County Jail. I’m grateful to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and local law enforcement for acting quickly to keep my family and me safe.”
Moskowitz, a Democrat seeking election in Congressional District 25, which extends from Boca Raton to Miami Beach, released no other details about the incident, including the date on which it happened.
FDLE confirmed it is investigating
the matter, but did not disclose other details, including the defendant's name or the charges he could face. Boca Raton police said they were not involved in any arrest.

Moskowitz has represented South Florida in Congress since January 2023. He is running against Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer for election to the newly redrawn District 25, which covers parts of Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties.
The incident is the second the past week involving a political official and a person from the Boca Raton area. On Oct. 15, authorities arrested 25-year-old Luke Schlauder for allegedly leaving voicemails threatening Florida state Rep. Peggy Gossett-Seidman.
According to published reports, Schlauder left voicemails in which he threatened to harm Gossett-Seidman physically if he continued to receive mail from her office. Schlauder has remained in custody at the Palm Beach Jail since his arrest on charges of making written threats to kill or do bodily harm, and using a two-way device to facilitate felony.
Gossett-Seidman, a Republican, represents Florida House District 91, which covers parts of southern Palm Beach County.
Authorities have not indicated whether there is a connection between the two incidents.
The New York Times said threats against political figures have become common during this election year.
On Oct. 11, it reported that since August 2024, at least 185 members of the U.S. House of Representatives, at least 70 U.S. senators and 44 state governors have been the targets of threats.
