A man is facing numerous charges after he was seen firing shots from a parking garage toward a terminal at Miami International Airport, according to authorities.
Francisco Ivan Mendiola, 31, fired the gun strikinga metal trash can and an unoccupied Dodge Challenger about 4 p.m., Sept. 23, an arrest affidavit stated. Numerous people were nearby, but no one was injured.
A deputy reported seeing Mendiola on the second floor of the parking garage holding a semiautomatic handgun in his right hand and loading a magazine into the firearm before firing a shot, according to court documents.

Mendiola is facing one felony count of shooting or throwing a deadly missile, one misdemeanor count of unlawfully discharging a firearm in a public place and two misdemeanor counts
of criminal mischief, according to an arrest affidavit.
“Frantic” witnesses helped direct deputies to Mendiola, who was found sitting on a bench in the area of the parking garage.
The arrest report described Mendiola as being homeless and “heavily intoxicated” at the time of the incident.
