Jupiter’s own Tyler Cameron has made it through Week Two of “Dancing with the Stars,” when he brought a dance inspired by the Amazon Prime “Off Campus” hit television series to the stage.
The theme of the episode, which aired on Tuesday, Sept. 22, was “Viral Hits Night.” Cameron, 33, danced to “Girls" by The Kid LAROI — a song featured in “Off Campus” — with his partner Sharna Burgess in a salsa where he went shirtless at one point. During the episode, he said he gives a “Patrick Swayze aura.”
“I mean, we got to give them what they want,” Cameron said after the dance. “You know ‘Off Campus’ girls, like, we've got to do what we've got to do.”
Burgess said the dance was “for the girls and the gays” this week.
The judges wanted more salsa. Derek Hough said the dance was “definitely a crowd-pleaser,” but that it didn’t have much salsa in it. Bruno Tonioli said the dance was more of a “muscle power exhibition” than a salsa. Carrie Ann Inaba added: “Agreed, but impressive.”
The dance, which secured a 16/30 score, did not keep Cameron’s team “safe.”
Cameron and Burgess were left standing alongside two other teams at the end of the episode, but they still avoided elimination. Based on the judges scores and viewer votes, the celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis and her partner Alan Bersten were eliminated instead.
“When I first came off ‘The Bachelorette,’ I thought I could do anything, but I think I lost myself a little bit over these years,” Cameron said in the episode. “So this has given me a chance to give my all to something again.”
Who is Tyler Cameron?
Cameron is a “Bachelorette” fan-favorite. He appeared in the 15th season of the reality dating show in 2019 as one of Hannah Brown's potential suitors. He is now engaged to Tate Madden, a photographer who is also from Jupiter. And Cameron starred in the Amazon Prime show “Going Home with Tyler Cameron.”
He is also a real estate agent in Palm Beach County, a general contractor and co-owner of a restaurant in Delray Beach — a 3Natives acai bowl shop on Atlantic Avenue that he renovated himself.
What are Tyler Cameron’s ties to Jupiter?
Jupiter is Cameron’s hometown and he lives there now. He even calls himself a “Florida Man” on social media.
He is a 2012 Jupiter High School graduate and a Florida Atlantic University alum. He runs Image 1 Construction in Jupiter and has short-term rentals in the area.
While he's lived in New York and Los Angeles, he said he always wanted to come back to Florida.
"I realized I love Jupiter and this is where I want to be forever," Cameron told The Palm Beach Post last year. "This is a market that will always be desirable.”
