A small plane crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off Boca Raton on Saturday morning. The sole passenger on board is uninjured, according to police.
Authorities are advising the public to steer clear of the area near 250 S. Ocean Blvd., near its intersection with East Palmetto Park Road. Emergency personnel are at the scene, along with the U.S. Coast Guard.
The plane is a single-engine Piper plane, commonly used for flight training and personal recreation, police said in a Facebook post.
Police learned of the crash at about 10:15 a.m. It's unknown what caused the crash, who the occupant was, where the plane took off from and what its destination was.
Paramedics took the person on board the plane to a hospital as a precaution, police said.
