First-year head coach Jeff Hafley knows what he signed up for. And savvy Dolphins fans know what 2026 is really about.
It’s about starting over.
But, we play the games and see what happens.
As for the current state of the Dolphins, is it time to overreact?
Here is an Overreaction Monday:
Dolphins have no pass rush
Overreaction? No. Without Chop Robinson, who is still somewhat unproven, Miami has no pass rushers capable of causing game plan issues for opposing quarterbacks and coach. Entering "Monday Night Football," the Dolphins were the only NFL team with two games played and zero sacks.
Dolphins have coverage woes
Overreaction? No. The 49ers wide receivers
ran open all afternoon. Miami has inexperience and a lack of either a shutdown corner or safety. Miami hopes rookie Chris Johnson will settle in, but it must be tough to learn both outside and inside cornerback. After Sunday, the Commanders and Dolphins stood at the bottom of the pack in opponent passer rating allowed.
Dolphins special teams worst in NFL
Overreaction? No. It’s only two games. We’ll see where this goes. Coordinator Chris Tabor has a solid reputation. But Miami has missed field goals, dropped a punt and been poor in coverage teams. As if Jeff Hafley didn’t have enough to worry about.
Dolphins have a big Right Tackle concern
Overreaction? No. Austin Jackson says a foot injury he had last season is not the reason he’s struggling. But he does not look close to his best self. Could Miami move Kadyn Proctor to RT earlier than planned? It would probably be Caedan Wallace up at RT, first. Perhaps Jackson will show improvement when not facing Nick Bosa or Maxx Crosby. Jackson has been a capable player in recent years, when healthy.
Miami may win 2 or 3 games
Overreaction? No. We picked Miami to go 3-14 and will gladly be wrong. But this team lacks overall talent, experience and depth. Is 4-13 or 5-12 possible? Sure. But it does not really seem like that is where we’re headed.
