MIAMI GARDENS — Seydou Traore's arrival to the Miami Dolphins is the latest step in a journey that started with a decision to try something completely different.
After discovering football in the United Kingdom, Traore worked his way through the NFL Academy in London, played college football at several stops, including Mississippi State, and eventually earned an opportunity with the Dolphins.
Traore is the first draft pick from the NFL's International Pathway Program, one of two NFL International Pathway players to be selected in the 2026 NFL draft. Miami made him a fifth-round pick. He will be one of two rookie tight ends on the roster when Miami opens the 2026 NFL season at Las Vegas on Sept. 13.
He also hopes his story can inspire other young
players outside the U.S. who dream of making the same journey. Traore recently spoke about what drew him to the sport, the path that brought him to Miami and the advice he would give to the next generation of international players.
