The presence of a popular fast-food American Chinese restaurant chain is growing in Palm Beach County.
Panda Express opened a new restaurant at 1914 Northeast Fifth Avenue in Boca Raton on Tuesday, Aug. 18. It has joined Pet Supermarket, Publix and other stores at the Fifth Avenue Shops plaza.
It marks the second Panda Express in Boca Raton — with the other one at the Florida Atlantic University campus — and the seventh in Palm Beach County. The new restaurant employs nearly 40 people and features a “Panda Home” design, according to a news release.
“Inside, customers will find a distinctly American Chinese design that bridges the East and the West with red lanterns, a moon gate portal and vibrant Chinatown signs,” reads the release.

At the grand opening, the company presented a $1,000 check to Boca Helping Hands, a nonprofit that provides food assistance programs, according to a spokesperson. Store hours are 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday to Sunday.
"Our entire Panda team is grateful to be further establishing ourselves in the Boca Raton community while providing new jobs and supporting local organizations through various fundraising opportunities," wrote McKay Pond, Panda Express area coach of operations, in a prepared statement.
"We hope to be a lasting part of the community and welcome all guests into our doors to try our American Chinese favorites and discover their own."

Panda Express brought back its hot orange chicken in July. It’s the chain's best-selling limited-time menu offer in its history.
Some other menu items include fried rice, chow mein, honey walnut shrimp, black pepper sirloin steak, original orange chicken and kung pao chicken.
