The Zoe Loren Foundation invites students in grades 7-12 to participate in its annual photography contest.
The contest began Sept. 1 and runs through Oct. 26. There is no fee to enter.
The theme for this year's contest is "Show Us Palm Beach County as You See It."
Students are encouraged to create a series of five original photographs that tell a story about a person, place, tradition, event, community, or visual theme in Palm Beach County.
Who can enter
- The contest is open to Palm Beach County students in grades 7-12.
- There are two grade categories: seventh and eighth grades and ninth through 12th.
- Each participant must submit five original photographs that work together to tell a cohesive visual story.
Contest requirements
- Each photo story must have a title that reflects the subject, theme or story represented by the photographs.
- All photographs must be taken by the student submitting the entry.
- Image file size should be between 1 MB and 5 MB per photograph, in JPEG or JPG format.
- Basic photo editing is permitted, but significant digital manipulation or AI-generated imagery is not allowed.
- Submissions should include a 75-word artist statement describing the story and the reason for choosing the subject.
- Selected submissions may be displayed on the Zoe Loren Foundation website, social media channels, and in promotional or exhibition materials.
Photos will be judged by professional photographers
Entrants will be scored on:
- Visual storytelling and cohesion
- Creativity and originality
- Technical skill
- Responsiveness to the theme
- Overall impact
The judges will be looking for a series of photographs that work together to tell a compelling story, reflect the photographer's personal vision and offer a creative perspective on Palm Beach County, according to the announcement.
Technical proficiency, including composition, lighting,
focus, exposure, contrast, and color balance, will also be considered. The five photographs will be judged as a complete series, with each image contributing meaningfully to the overall story.
Participants are responsible for the quality of their submission and adherence to contest guidelines. Incomplete or improperly formatted submissions will not be considered for an award. All submitted work must be original and may not infringe on the copyright or other intellectual property rights of any other person.
Voting for People's Choice Award is Oct. 27-Nov. 10.
Winners will be announced Nov. 23.
