Palm Beach County voters are heading to the polls Tuesday, Aug. 18, for a primary election that will help set the stage for November.
Polls opened at 7 a.m. and remain open until 7 p.m. Voters statewide are choosing nominees for governor, U.S. Senate and Congress, while Palm Beach County voters are also deciding contests for county government, the school board and the judiciary.
The election comes amid a series of last-minute controversies. Palm Beach County's Clerk of Court Michael Caruso was arrested and suspended Tuesday morning on child molestation charges. Days earlier, a former aide accused County Mayor Sara Baxter of pressuring her to have a sexual relationship with a wealthy potential donor.
Both Caruso and Baxter have denied the allegations.
Tuesday also marks the first primary under Florida's newly redrawn congressional map, meaning some voters are casting ballots in new districts. Follow The Palm Beach Post on Aug. 18 for real-time updates, photos and on-the-ground reporting as the election unfolds.
