Jones Foster attorney appointed FAU department chair
Jones Foster land use attorney Peter J. Henn, AICP, has been appointed chair of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at Florida Atlantic University by Dean Valery E. Forbes of the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science. A senior instructor in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at FAU’s Boca Raton campus, Henn draws on his experience as an attorney, planner, and former real estate developer to give students a practical perspective on the legal, regulatory, and policy issues that shape communities. Founded in 1924, Jones Foster is a full-service commercial and private client law firm headquartered in West Palm Beach with offices in Palm Beach and Jupiter.
Regional Transportation Authority names executive director
The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority governing board recently named Dave J. Kubicek as its new executive director. Kubicek brings more than 35 years of executive leadership in the passenger rail and public transportation industry. He was selected following a national search. Kubicek will begin his role as executive director on Aug. 31, 2026. Kubicek holds an associate degree of occupational studies from Universal Technical Institute and has completed the LEAD Executive Program through a consortium of North America's leading transit agencies.
Beachway Therapy adds certified addiction therapist
Beachway Therapy Center, a nationally recognized rehabilitation center with locations in West Palm Beach and New Jersey, has announced that Kimberly Litton, LCSW, CAP, CSAT, has joined its Florida-based clinical team. Litton brings specialized expertise in addiction, compulsive behaviors, sexual addiction and related trauma, further expanding the center’s comprehensive treatment services. Litton is a licensed clinical social worker, certified addiction professional and certified sex addiction therapist. Beachway Therapy Center is recognized as one of the nation’s Top 10 facilities/providers of mental health and substance abuse treatment services.
Mizner Country Club appoints golf course superintendent
Mizner Country Club recently announced the appointment of Ashley Byham as golf course superintendent, bringing more than 30 years of experience in golf course maintenance and agronomy to the club’s team. Byham joins Mizner Country Club with an extensive background at some of South Florida’s most respected private clubs and resort properties including St. Andrew’s Country Club, Breakers West and The Breakers Hotel. Throughout his career, Byham has overseen all aspects of golf course maintenance, including major golf course renovation projects. Mizner Country Club is one of Delray’s premier country club communities consisting of over 471 classic Mediterranean architecture luxury homes.
Bank of America expands investment banking coverage in West Palm
Bank of America has expanded its regional investment banking business with several hires across key U.S. markets including West Palm Beach. Mitch Theiss has rejoined the company as a vice chair in West Palm Beach. He will focus on expanding coverage of Florida-based middle market clients and family businesses while providing senior support on key relationships. Theiss brings more than 35 years of investment banking experience and most recently was a partner at Seabrook Partners. He previously served as executive chair at Rockefeller Capital Management and spent 19 years at Bank of America, where he was chair and co-head of global industrials corporate & investment banking.
West Palm Beach wins 23 awards for community events
The Florida Festivals & Events Association has awarded the City of West Palm Beach 23 awards for its community events. The first-, second-, and third-place recognitions were recently presented during the association’s annual Sunsational Awards at its 32nd Annual Convention & Expo. The awards are judged across 20 categories in three budget levels, including marketing materials such as signage, social media, public relations support, and promo items. The association received more than 600 submissions for this year’s awards. West Palm Beach's community events division, led by marketing and community events manager Angela Poco, won 12 first-place, four second-place, and seven third-place awards. The events recognized were 4th on Flagler, Holiday in Paradise, Clematis by Night, Clematis by Fright, the West Palm Beach GreenMarket, Soul in the City, Winter in Paradise, and Nights in Northwood.
