Those looking for something more ambitious can find chef-created specials closer to home, including a Korean-inspired smash burger created by an award-winning Food Network champ.

Here's where to celebrate National Cheeseburger Day across Palm Beach County.

National Cheeseburger Day chain deals

In 2018, BurgerFi was one of only two chains (the other, Shake Shack) to win an A rating from Consumer Reports because of its cattle are raised without antibiotics, growth hormones, chemicals or additives.

National Cheeseburger Day is built around one-day bargains, but burger fans looking to save money year-round may want to take a tip from a retired fast-food executive.

While reporting a story on the best fast-food menu items at a dozen chains, I spoke with retired McDonald's Canada and Italy president Louis Mele, who said loyalty programs, app-based offers and value meals often provide the best everyday deals.

In other words, Sept. 18 may bring some of the year's biggest burger promotions, but savvy diners can stretch their dollars long after National Cheeseburger Day ends.

On Sept. 18, Gary Rack's Farmhouse, with locations in Delray Beach and Boca Raton, offers a "Crush Bibimbap Smash Burger" ($14) blending American burger tradition with Korean influences. Created by the chain’s culinary director Demetrio Zavala, the sandwich features two smash-style patties made from brisket, short rib and chuck, topped with smoked cheddar, kimchi mayo, caramelized scallions and a sunny-side-up egg on a seeded challah bun. Hand-cut fries cooked in beef tallow come on the side.
