MIAMI GARDENS ― Miami Dolphins coach Jeff Hafley spoke with reporters two days before his first game.
The Dolphins play at the Raiders on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 4:25 p.m.
Is Dolphins tight end Will Kacmarek (calf) playing?
Miami rookie tight end Will Kacmarek (calf) was a limited participant on the first two injury reports of the season.
Jeff Hafley expects to have Kacmarek available on Sunday.
A third-rounder, Kacmarek is a strong blocker and is valuable for an offense that figures to be centered around star running back De'Von Achane.
Other Dolphins on the injury report this week include LB Ronnie Harrison Jr. (hamstring/limited) and rookie tight end Seydou Traore (thumb/achilles/full practice.)
Hafley expects Harrison and Traore to be available to play.
More from Hafley:
- Hafley said he is excited to see how well the team tackles against the Raiders. He acknowledges that some teams struggle in the area of tackling in Week 1.
- On backup QB Kyle McCord, the team has done some extra work with him, including 7-on-7. Hafley is confident he can run the offense.
- There could be practice squad elevations. If at any moment we feel a guy can help us win a game, we're going to elevate him.
- Hafley's Dad and brother were working in Manhattan on the day of 9/11. It was a tough day, Hafley recalled, as he was not able to quickly connect with them. He called some friends who lost family members and he reached out to them today.
- The Dolphins are traveling on Saturday.
- Jeff Hafley will not prepare pre-game comments for the team. What comes out will be authentic.
- "I'm really excited to watch them play," Hafley said.
